Your Exposure
Control Plan:
Complying with OSHA’s Blood borne Pathogen Standard
The
occupational Safety and Health
Administration (OSHA) regulation
dealing with Blood borne
Pathogens is designed to protect
employees from needlessly
contracting any illness
transmitted through the exchange
of blood and other bodily
fluids. This seminar will focus
on what a Blood borne Pathogen
is, methods to control exposure
(Universal Precautions vs. Body
Substance Isolation) and what to
do in the event of an exposure.
We will review sample exposure
control documents that have been
designed to help childcare
directors and supervisors comply
with the reporting requirements
outlined in the standard. The
rights of the source and exposed
individuals, as well as the
responsibilities of the employer
in an exposure situation will
also be discussed. This seminar
can be adapted to focus on
either a supervisory audience or
a direct care staff audience.
