Legally Correct Employment Applications

The questions employers ask on the employment application can implicate them in a discrimination lawsuit. Many employers use standard form applications from a business supply store or computer program and never realize the form has questions which pose as potential discrimination land mines. Do you ask for a social security number, country of citizenship, or graduation date from high school and/or college or questions related to medical history or disability? Learn why and how these questions should not be on any pre-employment documents and when and how it is appropriate to (if ever) to ask these questions. Participants will discuss the myriad of federal and state laws which effect employment application questions. Participants will also be engaged in discussing child care profession related questions to consider adding to their job applications in an effort to identify the most qualified candidates.
