Unlawful Harassment in the workplace

      Harassment in the workplace is far more prevalent than most people realize. Undoubtedly, harassment in the workplace poses a serious threat to the well being of employees and the organization.  This workshop will provide in-depth information about sexual harassment, as well as other forms of harassment.  Focus will be on defining harassment, affirmative steps organizations can take to avoid harassment lawsuits, and strategies for putting together an effective anti-harassment policy.

COURSE OUTLINE:

      Unlawful harassment should be a concern for every company and every organization. Lawsuits are filed everyday alleging harassment in the workplace but many incidents of harassment go unreported.

      This workshop will address unlawful harassment and the effects it can have on an organization.  We will look at the two types of harassment; Quid Pro Quo and Hostile Environment as well as what constitutes “severe and/or pervasive” conduct.

      We will look at affirmative steps organizations can take to avoid harassment charges, and strategies for putting together and implementing effective anti-harassment policies.  In addition we will discuss steps employers should take if and when they receive a complaint of harassment.

      Real life examples of harassment will be discussed.  In addition, fictitious examples of harassment will be presented and participants will discuss and decide whether or not the conduct constitutes unlawful harassment.
